Collectible Motorcar of Atlanta is proud to offer this piece of Mercedes-Benz history with the 1963 Mercedes-Benz 220S. This gorgeous classic Mercedes is an unrestored, well-kept original 220 S from the early 1960's. The beautiful piece of German engineering is powered by Mercedes' M180 engine, a 2.2-liter inline-six-cylinder engine which is mated to a 4-speed on the column transmission. Yes, you heard that right, this Mercedes is equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission located on the column. Much different than the typical three-on-the-tree, but this car is ready to hit the road and cruise at higher speeds with that extra gear.
This 220S shows very well, with a recent two stage detail including a buff and wax being completed on the vehicle before it was brought and offered for sale. As you may know, these Mercedes-Benz are very rare to come by, and even more rare to find one in this condition. The Paul Bracq designed vehicles of this time period are nicknamed “Fintails” due to the small flare in the back fender by the trunk. A very popular and sought-after body style, these fintails, initially, did not last long on the market and for that reason there are not many left available today. This car is another vehicle that spent the majority of its previous life in Bogota, Columbia, and just arrived off the boat. For the first time, this vehicle is offered for sale in the United States with a clean transferrable title/registration. The consignor states that this vehicle has been owned by the same family since new, and due to the condition, we believe it. Don't miss your chance to own this piece of German engineering history and give us a call to put this Benz in your driveway.
