Collectible Motorcar of Atlanta is proud to offer this loaded, fully restored, numbers matching 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible. This car is stated by the previous owner to have never been damaged or rusted in its life. The car was completely restored to be original based on the VIN information and door tag, other than the paint job. The VIN tag denotes that this car is a “C” code car, which indicates that it came from the factory with the 289 cuin V8 (200 hp) motor. Only 12,520 of the 607,568 pony cars produced in 1966 were luxury convertibles, which comes out to about 2%. That's right -- you are looking at one rare convertible Mustang.
Shown in a gorgeous Silver Blue paint job over Blue and White luxury interior trim, this Mustang has perfect colors to cruise the coast or hit the backroads of the country. The previous owner states that the car was originally pained Arcadian Blue from the factory, which is denoted by the “F” code. This blue is a lighter, more powder blue color. This is one of the very few differences that this car was restored to from the factory. All of the brightwork and chrome on this vehicle appears to be brand new, with no pitting and scratching. This car has one of the better-maintained paint jobs that I have seen, with no major scratches or imperfections to note. The white top and tonneau cover also look to be close to new, with very little wear and tear. The attention to detail on the restoration of this vehicle is unlike any that we have come across here at Collectible, and we are proud to have this time capsule sitting in our showroom.
Under the hood lies the original, numbers matching 289 cubic inch V8 that runs better than it would from the factory. As part of the restoration, the entire engine compartment was completely redone. The restoration (done by American Classics) was so meticulously done that everything was replaced to new – and to mimic the original. Some parts that were replaced (but not limited to) include: new radiator, new shroud, new hoses, correct tower clamps, correct Autolite battery with correct tray and hold-down, correct Radio Resistance spark plug wires, correct washer bag, concours radiator cap, and much more. The previous owner states that he took this vehicle to a local MCA judged event as “Occasional Driven” and it took Gold in its class. He also mentions that the “C” code engine runs and idles as it should, and the transmission shifts effortlessly while cruising straight down the road.
The body panels on this vehicle are impressively straight and clean. The previous owner states that this car was painted Silver Blue using a two-stage base coat/ clear coat PPG paint. The fenders and doors on this car are original and never-rusted Ford factory fenders and doors. None of the metal underneath the car was replaced during the restoration. The frame rails, floor pans, torque boxes, etc. are all original to the vehicle. There is tons of research and documentation that accompanies the sale of this vehicle, down to the “Fender Codes”. Don't miss your chance to own this piece of Ford history and give us a call today to schedule a time to see this one in person or put this one in your driveway!
