#'S MATCH 327/250 V8, POWERGLIDE, SLICK PAINT!
This 1962 Chevrolet Corvette delivers a cool and classic convertible that is a symbol of the open road. And with its numbers-matching V8, you really get to experience the best of a true classic.
This is the final year for the first-generation Corvette that means you get an instant connection to the birth of arguably America's greatest road machine. It also means you benefit from a decade of evolution. So, you still have the first-year silhouette, but now it evolved into the sleekest of the generation. And this one has good fundamentals to really show it all off. Newer headlights give a clean look to the commanding quad headlight front end, and there's a beautiful polish on the chrome to help add extra emphasis to the way they split the front and create one of the most artful pieces on any Corvette. The ducktail rear established the now-iconic four tail light arrangement, and at the same time, it would be the last trunk on a Corvette for 35 years. So, with all this history, it's great to have a convertible that is as vintage and complete as this one, right down to the wheel covers.
The full black interior is pure classic fun of a true American sports car. You'll love the details like the good door panels, correct loop carpeting, working courtesy light, and bucket seats with lap belts. Even the correct Wonderbar AM radio is still there for display. The three-spoke sports steering wheel has a terrific thin/grippy unit, and it has the right feel to put you in touch with the generations that came before you. And the full gauge package quite artfully integrates the tach.
Under the hood is the numbers-matching 327 cubic-inch V8. This has a great classic look with the Corvette-script valve covers, bright air grabber, and matching distributor shield. It's a tidy setup that signals good care. There are also modern upgrades to key areas like the distributor. It makes for the kind of confident package that loves to hit the road. The dual exhaust gives a sweet tune, and you can really feel the lightweight nature of these early Corvettes once you get them on the open road. And the Powerglide automatic transmission lets you enjoy it all with ease.
This is the Corvette that loves to have a very vintage style, and at the same time, wants to make sure it remains a strong driver. So, while you may find a few areas to improve or add your personal touch, there is something quite attractive about a car that already celebrates the best of a final-year first-gen 'Vette.
