Collectible Motor Car of Atlanta is proud to present this exceptional and fully-restored 1963 Fiat Campagnola AR59. Inspired by U.S. military Jeeps that were ubiquitous across Europe after World War II, in 1950 the Italian Ministry of Defense commissioned its own version -- although it clearly resembles a Jeep in its form factor and overall styling, it was a completely new design from the ground up and features many distinctly Italian functional improvements (most notably, a fully independent front suspension, which makes it drive considerably better than a truck with a solid front axle).

Fiat produced the Campagnola in both military and civilian models. This example, a military version with a 24-volt electrical system and completely waterproof ignition, has only been driven 150 kilometers since a frame-off, nut-and-bolt restoration completed in Livorno, Italy. Recently imported and offered for sale in the U.S. for the first time.

Finished in matte olive green, body is very straight with no known rust issues. All hardware has either been restored or replaced. New canvas top with leather straps. All new gaskets, seals, rubber, etc. Nicely detailed underside and engine compartment. Interior appoints are decidedly utilitarian, but every nut, bolt, switch, gauge, etc. has been painstakingly restored to a better-than-new standard. Convertible top frame retracts and stows neatly behind the bed; side doors can be latched in the open position for an open-air driving experience without having to fully remove them. The windshield folds down if you want a REALLY open-air experience.

This Campagnola's drivetrain has also been fully restored to the same high standard, with a complete engine, transmission, transfer case and axle rebuild, plus overhauled suspension, brakes, electrical system, etc. Two batteries, 24-volt generator, waterproof ignition, etc. mean this Italian take on the Jeep can be submerged all the way up to the air intake. The overall driving experience is pretty similar to a Willys Jeep of the same era, but handling is improved due to the independent front suspension (this was way ahead of its time for a 4x4). Don't miss this rare opportunity to own a unique Italian classic. Inquire today.
