Truck History from Fire Chief Joe,
"This 1977 1 ton Chevy was purchased new from Sax Motor Company in Dickinson North Dakota in the fall of 1977 as a grant award from the North Dakota Forest Service. The fire unit was a safety green at that point and was repainted red in 2006. A high pressure low volume piston pump was installed on a service body. It was used as a first responder unit till 2015 when it was retired to a standby equipment transport an at that time the water supply and pumping unit was removed. Service work schedule was oil changes and air filters every spring and late fall regardless of hours and after every major fire event it was used at. The transmission is a 3speed automatic that was replaced at around 8000 miles in 2013 with a heavier duty one. Tires were replaced in 2019 with 10 ply radials and are in new like condition there is no spare. Body is in good condition and is very straight, there are a few dings as you would expect from an aged model. One is on the hood and one on the inside driver side door both are minor repairs. Unit runs well, uses no oil as of today all gauges work. The unit will come with a simple switch siren and red bubble emergency light. If you have any questions feel free to contact us.
